W 1912 został dyrektorem Katedry Psychiatrii i Chorób Nerwowych Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Fryderyka Wilhelma we Wrocławiu i dyrektorem wrocławskiej kliniki psychiatrycznej . W okresie wrocławskim opublikował 19 prac.\\nWprowadził wiele zmian w jakości opieki nad pacjentami psychiatrycznym, m.in.: kąpiele lecznicze, rozmowy z lekarzem i zaniechanie działań restrykcyjnych wobec pacjentów. Jego badania naukowe opierały się o badania nad organicznymi przyczynami zaburzeń psychicznych z wykorzystaniem preparatów histologicznych pochodzenia autopsyjnego. Do jego zainteresowań zalicza się również epilepsję, guzy mózgu, psychiatrię sądową, choroby naczyniowe mózgu i wczesną demencję. Był jednym z najważniejszych specjalistów histopatologii w Europie. Jako pierwszy opisał i udokumentował neuropatologiczny opis otępienia przedstarczego, którą E. Kreapelin nazwał chorobą Alzheimera. Był wybitnym dydaktykiem, organizował wieczory medycyny wojennej oraz opisał w książce \\\"Wojna i nerwy\\\" skutki psychicznych stresów wojennych, nazywanych obecnie stresem pourazowym."@pl ;
