If a series of periodical constant pulse of potential is superimposed to a linear scanning, a consistent enhancement of the signal is achieved. Moreover, if the difference between the current just before and at the end of the pulse is measured, a reading less influenced by the capacitive current can be performed. In this way, the differential reading of the current generates a peak shaped voltammogram.
