A whole body cryotherapy procedure involves the use of a stimulus of extremely low temperature, between – 100º C and -160º C, for a duration of no longer than 2-3 minutes. One of the non-invasive assessment methods of the effects of whole body cryotherapy is thermovisual analysis. The aim of the study was to determine body surface temperature changes resulting from exposure to low temperatures in women of menopausal age. Materials and Methods. The study covered 18 women between 55-65 years of age. The subjects underwent a series of 10 whole body cryotherapy procedures. On the 1st and 10th day of treatment, thermovisual measurements of body surface temperature were taken in 12 areas prior to and immediately after the procedure. Results. A statistically significant difference was observed following cryotherapy between day 1 and day 10 for 11 of 12 body areas, with the exception of the rear shoulder. The statistical significance and percentage temperature change were indicated for the 1st and 10th procedure in all body areas. Conclusions. Post whole body cryotherapy temperatures after procedures 1 and 10 differ in a statistically significant manner in 11 of 12 body areas with the exception of rear shoulder. A high correlation between temperature increase and difference was indicated in the areas of the limbs in procedures 1 and 10. Furthermore, a higher correlation was indicated for the examined body areas between the percentage increases than temperature increases in both procedures."@en ;
